LUATÈ is an emerging Alt-Pop singer/songwriter from whom Brisbane and Gold Coast audiences have come to expect kinesthetic and highly emotive performances and lyrics laden with viscous imagery. Our artist describes her work as being ‘at its marrow, an acute and urgent pursuit of honesty.’

Brendan is one of Australia’s premier Bassists who is pursuing the sacred in Jazz improvisation. He is joined for this performance by Kim Cunio (harmonium and more), guitarist Lachlan Coventry and vocalist Darren Percival.

Ancient language, contemporary music, stunning vocals, guitar brilliance. Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse use music to highlight one of the most beautiful and rare languages; Noongar language of the southern corner of Western Australia.

With less than 400 Noongar language speakers left, their work is about what connects.

Damian Barbeler - SACRED CURRENTS -the Bush somewhere - Sydney

Act 1 - Sunday 20th, 11am - Damian and Uncle Max Harrison

Act 2 - Sunday 20th, 2pm - Veronique Serret playing Damian's COMPOSITION     

Composer and media artist Damian Barbeler continues his ongoing exploration of trees and the Australian landscape in his pursuit of a non colonial Australian composition.

Yuin Elder, Uncle Max Harrison, will lead Damian on a walk through the Bush to share his understanding. A hourss later, Damian will present his composition played by violinist Veronique Serret LIVE.

Dance No.19 - SACRED CURRENTS - Building 20, The Armory

Working within the constraints and inspired by social distancing, this new musical work, ‘Dance No.19’ will feature Ngoc Tuan Hoang (Classical Guitar), Mark Szeto (Double Bass), Mirko Golub (Accordion) and the Aurora Choralis vocal quartet. A collaboration with composer Richard Petkovic to create a spiralling whirling dervish COVID 19 inspired performance and composition.

Two performances from Goulburn featuring Alexei Caulfield and the Bass Clef Duo, young musicians in the Goulburn area making a name for themselves by taking on the Western Classical music cannon. From a recorder performance of Meditation by Ros Bandt to Cello and Double Bass rendition of Mozart’s Duo Sonata in Bb.

mirrah is a passionate artist with a strong message of self-empowerment, positivity, and unity through loving oneself authentically.

Having grown up in between California and Sydney, it’s not easy to pigeonhole a musician like mirrah with a melting pot of multicultural influences surging deep through her veins. Hip Hop Soul, Spirituality and More.

Mindy Meng Wang - Multicultural Arts Victoria - Melbourne

A Chinese/Australian musician, teacher and composer. Her cross-cultural life and professional experience create her unique style, which has been influenced by Chinese classical and western contemporary music and loves to experiment and improvise on the traditional Chinese instrument - the guzheng.

Amadou Suso - Multicultural Arts Victoria - Melbourne

Amadou Suso is a direct line descendant of the very first Kora master who lived 760 years ago. Amadou Suso’s lineage goes directly back to Korea Musa Suso and combines a deep knowledge of Gambian traditional music with a passion for the contemporary possibilities of his own musical journey.

Allara - Multicultural arts Victoria - Melbourne

12 September 7pm

Allara is a Yorta Yorta, musician, composer, filmmaker, and involved in the climate justice movement. Using a double bass and loop station at the core, she is inspired by ancient oral traditions and is a natural storyteller. Allara harnesses hard-hitting spoken word taking the listener on a journey reflecting cultural, spiritual and environmental empowerment.

crossing paths - SACRED CURRENTS -Chessell Laneway -Ashfield

17 September 7pm

A new 30 min cross cultural composition performed live and in a single file in a laneway. Commissioned for the Festival and features hip hop artist Kween G, Chinese Soprano Carina Li, Balkan maestro Louie Stojcevski (Saxophone), the infamous Sam Golding (trumpet), electronic artist Nick Wishart and composer/music director Richard Petkovic.
